Why is my compost pile staying cold and soggy?

The no-waste compost pile stays cold and soggy instead of breaking down.
I kept kitchen greens separate from dry browns to limit methane output, but the mix never heats and just sits wet. Not sure if the container traps too much moisture or if the ratio needs a different split.

Keeping the greens and browns apart is probably why recycleranger’s pile never takes off. They really do need mixing so the microbes hit both at once and the whole thing can warm up instead of just sitting wet. Adding extra dry browns like shredded paper or leaves and turning it a few times should pull the moisture down.

Mixed the greens and browns together with extra dry stuff like you said, but it’s still just sitting there cold and soggy after a couple turns. The bin might be sealed too tight on the bottom.
