I expected the closed-loop water reuse setup to mainly cut down on what got sent to the treatment plant, but the way the diverted flow created steadier moisture levels ended up changing how the top few inches of soil held together after a couple cycles. The structure there feels more like it’s building its own buffer instead of drying out in patches. Not sure if that’s just from the consistent dampness or if something else in the system is feeding into it.

the binding might come from whatever the diverted flow picks up on its way through, not just steady dampness. I’d check the pH or any dissolved bits in that diverted stream first to see if it’s feeding the particles directly.
