Reusable silicone bags not sealing, spoiling food faster?

I expected that switching to reusable silicone bags for leftovers would mean almost no plastic waste left in the kitchen bin each week, but the ones I tried still let air in around the zippers so food spoils faster than with the old wraps.

Now the produce scraps are building up before I can deal with them properly, and I’m not sure if a different seal style would fix it or if the material itself is the issue.

The zipper letting air sneak back in is a common gripe with those silicone ones. Pressing out every bit of air before you slide it shut can help a bit, but if the material itself stays flexible around the edges you might get better results trying a roll-top style instead.
